As of October 30, 2026, QUITTR's listings no longer load on the App Store or Google Play, so new users can't download it. We haven't found a public explanation, and it may or may not come back. If you were a subscriber, start with what happened to QUITTR and how to cancel, then come back here.
QUITTR bundled a recovery program (streaks, daily lessons, a community, a panic button) with a content blocker. The right replacement depends on which part you relied on, and on what was already letting you down before it disappeared. (We make Pledgely, one of the options below, so weigh our view accordingly.)
If you want another recovery program
If the lessons and streaks kept you engaged, replace like with like:
- Brainbuddy is the closest match: a 100-day education program with progress tracking, a community, and a content blocker, on iPhone and Android. It needs a paid subscription after onboarding.
- Unchaind and Overcomer offer streaks, check-ins, an AI companion, and blocking in an explicitly Christian frame. Good if faith is part of your quit; a poor fit if it isn't.

If the blocker wasn't holding you
QUITTR's blocker, like almost every blocker, was self-reversible. When the urge got strong enough, you could switch it off or delete the app, and nothing happened except the relapse. Moving to another program with a similar blocker keeps that weakness.
What changes the outcome is an off switch with a consequence. Pledgely blocks porn system-wide on iPhone (using Apple's Screen Time technology) and Android (through a local VPN), and lets you attach a daily pledge of $1 to $100 to keeping it on. Turn the blocker off and the pledge is charged. Keep it on and every daily hold is released back to your card. Nothing you browse is logged. On iPhone, you set up the pledge on the web at pledgely.app. We break down why this matters in why porn blockers don't work.
If you want less app, not more
Some people find the program layer motivating; others find it busywork that fades after week two.
- Pledgely deliberately does one thing (block, with money on the line) and has a streak tracker without homework.
- BlockerX offers conventional blocking with optional extras you can ignore; see BlockerX alternatives for its trade-offs.
- Built-in filters are the most minimal option of all: Screen Time's adult website limit on iPhone, Private DNS on Android. Both reverse in seconds.
If you want humans, not an app
If QUITTR's community was what you valued, consider the accountability products: Covenant Eyes or Ever Accountable send reports of your activity to an ally you choose. That model works when you have the right person; our comparison covers when it doesn't. r/NoFap and r/pornfree also remain busy peer communities that cost nothing to join.
Is QUITTR free?
No. QUITTR ran on a paid subscription, and you can't start one now that the app is off the stores. Most serious tools in this space are paid too, Pledgely included. If price is what has you looking elsewhere, be careful about solving it with a free blocker. Options like Private DNS genuinely block, and they also reverse in seconds, silently and with no consequence, which is the failure that keeps the relapse cycle going. Paying for the one tool you'll actually keep beats collecting apps you uninstall.
Honest comparison
| Brainbuddy | Pledgely | Covenant Eyes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recovery content | Extensive | Minimal | Some |
| Community | Built in | No | Allies |
| Blocking | Content blocker | System-wide | Filter + monitoring |
| What turning it off costs | No stated consequence | Your pledge, $1 to $100/day | A conversation |
The bottom line
Before you pick a replacement, ask what you actually needed from QUITTR. A program answers "how do I stay motivated?" Pledgely answers "what stops me at 2am when motivation is gone?" Many people who relapse repeatedly find the second question is the one that counts, and some run both: a program for structure, Pledgely so the off switch has a price.

Put real stakes behind quitting
Pledgely blocks porn across your whole phone and charges your own pledge only if you turn the blocker off. Stay clean, pay nothing.
